The ‘bird watching’ training, where you run without staying at a specified heart rate, are definitely among my favourites. Not because of the ‘strange birds’ I sometimes encounter, but because it is just about running, without distractions. Just go and enjoy. I love that.
Now, with an expected time of 4 hours and 45 minutes, I know I am not going to finish first at the Amsterdam Marathon, but today I found out my starting position is all the way to the end! So I had this vision of day turning to night while we were waiting to start….
A horrible attack on my phone has taken place sometime during the late evening or night. Of course I wasn’t there, since I was asleep, so I did not witness it, but circumstantial evidence suggests it went something like this: my phone was on the coffee table in the living room, and started beeping because someone sent me a message. Storm, my cat, got mad at my phone because it woke him up, jumped on the coffee table, swiped it off it, and, from the look of the screen, scratched it for a bit after that. Needless to say I don’t leave my phone in the living room unattended anymore, just in case Storm strikes again 🙁
In my quest to find a way to hydrate myself during the marathon that agrees with me, I tried a belt with two bottles today. They were ridiculously noisy, and felt rather heavy, even though they were not even that big. I felt like a camel with these two sloshing things on my back! I think it’s safe to say that this experiment failed. The search continues!!
Today was another ‘bird watching’ day (you know, where I get to do nothing else but running, at no particular speed or heart-rate). I wonder what the birds think when they hear me whistling. I know I appreciate their songs, but do they like mine?
It would have been great to put something significant here, today, something epic, grandiose, remarkable, since today marks three fourths of my journey. Yet sadly I felt uninspired. Sorry, it happens.
There are a lot of people with dogs in this neighbourhood, and almost all of them walk their dogs on the same route I like to run. Or so it seems anyway. Sometimes the dogs are on really long leashes, which can turn a run into an unintended obstacle-run!
